Four funerals and a "missed" wedding

Fools rush in.....
It's the new year already.
I am suffering from vacation overdose and a big hole in my purse.
I need to settle my debts. (My belief to start the year debt-free.)
I need to visit my dentist and hairdresser.
My face needs some TLC.
The list goes on...

Hang on, I am not ready for the new year yet.
I am not ready to go back to work.
I am still on holiday mode.

Bali was excellent.
Brilliant.... that we made it for some funerals.
Wonderful that it was pure food indulgence trip.
Fantastic...that I got my therapuetic massages.
Even the lacklustre airmeals were forgiven!

Hey, where is that illusive rich old man to come to my rescue?
The plot thickens....

Otherwise, it's a happy new year!

Home sweet home

Good to be back to lovely warm climate again!

Quick update.

Things will be sunnier tomorrow as I will leave for the island of Penang for another vacation with the family. The entire family is back in one place at the same time. This is the first time ever.

Still recovering from jetlag. More comfortable spending 12 hours in Business Class....but it can be quite cramped in full flight...which it was, this time around. The service and food can certainly be improved.

Will soon be moving on to another year. Another crossroad ahead.

Happy holidays!

Gone to see the Queen

I am back in Den Haag, after my escape to London.

10 days away from my computer and internet...

It was back to basics.
It was pure chilling out!

reading a good book... an amazing real story of a couragous girl who defied all odds despite coming from a remote part of China, where the Chinese soldiers marched in during the culture revolutions and found nothing to destroy.

taking photos
hanging out cafes and bookstores
painting ceramic gifts
exercising by going window shopping
poise and grace drills on ice skates ... shoulders straight, tummy in and buttocks tucked. Oh... I didn't fall!
making greeting cards
food tasting products from Marks & Spencers
dieting...sure, it was hard work ;)
even, cooking up a thai meal!

Photo: The thai diet
Main: Green curry chicken, stir-fried beansprouts with prawns and rice
Soup: Tom yam kung

Note: Green curry paste courtesy of M&S. The soup was cooked from scratch!

Going dutch

What luck!
My stint in NL has finished.

We had good sunny days or at least, dry spells during our stay in the Netherlands.
See for yourself in Shutterbug.
For the past few days, it's getting chillier and more overcast these days in The Netherlands.
I think it's time to go elsewhere for better weather.

What a windfall!
I am handed an unexpected additional week of vacation. It's starts next week.
I will be on holidays till the end of the year.

What else?
I am extending my stay in Europe.
I shall be off to London.

From Duitsland to Deutschland and back

... from centrum to zentrum...
... from flat plains to hilly terrain...
... from the land of cheese to sausages...
... one thing did not change, the Euro.

Maasricht is a dutch town in the south of Netherlands. The highlight in Maasricht was definitely the ride on the ferries wheel. Fantastic view of Maasricht from the air. The ride was 3 Euro for 6 spins. What a bargain!

Then, onwards to Aachen in Germany. A town on the Germany-Netherlands border with the charm of traditional shops and a wonderful Christmas market atmosphere. In the market, there are stalls selling arts and crafts to food.

My camera captures the christmas festivities...... children having fun in the merry-go-round in Shutterbug.

Sunday...we headed back to Germany. This time, passing through Dusseldorf to Koln (Cologne). Dusseldorf looks like a more modern city then I imagined. We scrapped our scheduled stop in Dusseldorf as the Centrum seemed quiet. Even the stalls in Christmas market did not look like they were open.

On we sped onto the autobahn (motorway), where the speed on the slow lane is 100 km/h towards Koln. Every other car is a BMW, Mercedes or Audi on the road. Luckily, we had our Mercedes A160 to compete with the local drivers. More in Nomadic tales.
